Funding your idea - make an application
The process for making a request to the fund is simple and swift:
Once you have an idea you can apply using the Innovation Fund Request Form which is designed to help you structure your thinking in order to help clarify and define your ideas. This will support you in making a bid that secures funding for the delivery of your ideas. We are keen to support you so that you can progress your ideas and we have produced a guidance document and example request will help you with completing the form. You can also attend one of our idea development sessions - see here.
Once received, your request will be taken to the next available Innovation Funding Panel for a decision. Panel meetings will be held monthly to ensure you can move fast with your idea – you will generally receive an outcome within 48 hours of the Panel meeting it is seen at.
For the more complex or high value applications, we will ask you to attend the Panel so that you can address any questions the Panel have that aren't covered by the application form.
If your request is for over £25,000 you will need to complete a formal business case to be reviewed by the Executive Team. Ask your SBU Business Manager of Finance Business Partner for support on how to do this.
Once you have received confirmation of your award, you will need to attend one of our delivery planning sessions to work up a credible implementation plan prior to the funding being released into your budget / cost centre. As a condition of an award, we will ask you to provide this implementation plan, updates on your progress and a final assessment.
We want to hear about and share your successes, but just as importantly, we want to know about the learning that you have gained from taking forward your idea, regardless of whether it has been ‘successful’ or not.
Now it is up to you! Start generating those ideas to improve our services, make a submission and see how you can benefit from the Innovation Fund.
